9 months and more!

Ryan turned 9 months old on May 2nd and I took him for his check-up on May 6th. He weighed in at 19lbs 6oz (29th percentile) and was 28 ½ inches long (56th percentile). Unfortunately I took him in a day before our appointment was actually scheduled because he was showing signs of another ear infection and sure enough he had another double ear infection. We are giving him another round of a different antibiotic hoping this will get rid of it; however, a week later and I am still noticing some signs that point to the ear infection still being there. He only has 3 more doses of this antibiotic so we will see what happens. Praying these ear infections go away so he doesn’t have to get tubes put in. Also, due to the extra fluid in his ears throwing his equilibrium off he has been getting car sick and throwing up every morning on the way to daycare. One day he covered me in puke, not fun! Unfortunately, there isn’t anything we can do about it right now either since he is on antibiotics we can’t give him anything. He is being a real trooper through this whole thing. He doesn’t fuss in the car from not feeling well and after he gets sick he feels better and goes to sleep. Spoke with the doctor again about his conjunctivitis in his eyes and he said he wants to wait until Ryan is a year old to decide if we need to do anything about it (he said they would go in with a wire and unclog his tear ducts if need be, sounds scary to me so I am also praying that this clears up). Despite how the above sounds, he is doing great! He is a very happy baby who babbles all the time and is in to everything. He is never in the same spot you put him in five seconds later and has found a new curiosity about cat food, lol. We are constantly finding new things that he can get into and reach; which is driving Jonathan crazy. I had a wonderful first Mother’s day with my baby boy. Ryan said mama for the first time over the weekend, made for a great present! We had Ryan dedicated at church on Mother’s day as well. We are packing and getting ready to move hopefully at the end of this month. So far everything has gone smoothly. The appraisal was approved and the inspection was completed with only one request to fix an outside electrical outlet. Huge praise because we were worried something would come up we didn’t know was wrong (as I am sure all homeowners go through that worry). Now we are just trying to find a place to move to.

We got Ryan a step start walk in ride. He really enjoys being pushed around on it but hasn't figured out how to use it to walk yet.

We finally put the baby bath away and gave Ryan a bath in the "big tub". He loved it! He "swims" all over it and splashes every where.

He even made a new friend in the big tub.

Crawling!!

Ryan is officially crawling. He has been doing a sort of slither for awhile now but has just within the last week or two he has gotten really good at doing an army crawl. And over the last few days he has gotten very quick at it. I am really surprised at how quickly he learned to go so fast at it! He has been in to everything lately. We have had to put the outlet plug covers on and put up all cords. We are trying to figure out what to do about the fireplace but for now just try to keep him away (we were trying to wait on baby proofing until we moved so we didn't have to do it twice but that didn't happen). He has learned how to open drawers and cabinets now as well. While I cook dinner he has been enjoying playing with some dishes. This keeps him content for awhile so I can get dinner made or clean up. He has also started pulling up on a few things. But is still very shaky on his legs. Also, our big news (if you haven't heard) is we are officially under contract and have sold our house! We have already had the appraisal and the inspection. The inspection went really well and the buyer wants us to fix only one minor thing. We haven't gotten the results back from the appraiser but he told the buyer's realtor that he didn't see any problems. Praying that goes through smoothly. We have begun looking in Frankfort for a place to rent and are hoping to move at the end of May or the beginning of June (our closing date is set for June 15ht). Right now the plan is to rent for a couple of months and then have a new house built. Here are a few pictures of Ryan from the last two weeks.






We went to the park one day. He wasn't for sure what to think of the swings but enjoyed being outside.

He has started standing much better and even uses me to pull up a little.

I put the package of toilet paper in front of the drawer to try to keep him out of it but he got sneaky. He enjoyed playing with the toilet paper and then realized he could get up on it and still get to the drawer.




You can't really see what he is doing but he is chewing on the tag of his toy. You can give him any toy and he will chew on the tag. He searches for tags on just about anything to chew on it.




He has now learned how to scope water with his cup and drink it. All his cups have holes in the bottoms of them to let the water out but with this one he has learned that if he is quick he can drink the water.

8 months!

Ryan turned 8 months old on April 2nd, he is getting so big and is so much fun!! He babbles all the time (da da, ba ba and na na are sounds I can decipher so far). He still isn’t crawling but he does an army crawl and is getting better and better at that. He rolls every where and turns in circles. He is doing great at sitting up and is getting more graceful at laying down when he decides he is done sitting up. He knows his name and when you are talking to him (and has done all this for some time I just haven’t written it down). He is such a happy sweet baby and I feel so blessed to be his Mommy.

We celebrated Ryan turning 8 months by going on a picnic. Ryan enjoyed being outside, feeling the breeze was a new thing and it was so neat to watch his face. We sat by the lake and fed the ducks. We had a great Easter. We gave Ryan his Easter basket that morning and he was so excited (although I think that had more to do with Jonathan and I being excited and he was playing along). We got him his first bible, a Veggie Tales Golden book, a stuffed bunny, a new rubber ducky for the bath and some Gerber puffs. Our church had a wonderful service and then we had lunch with my family. It was so nice to see them and catch up. It was entertaining watching Ryan try to eat the puffs. He would get frustrated if they stuck to his hand and couldn’t get them in his mouth. But as the week progressed he got really good at picking them up and getting them right in his mouth. Now he is a pro.

Ryan has had a rough go of it this last week though. He came down with a cold about a week and a half ago. The cold moved into his eyes (as it usually does) so I took him back to the doctor and they gave him some more eye drops. After using those for a few days his eyes cleared up. However, the doctor said that if he continues to get conjunctives we will need to see a specialist (he has had it multiple times so far). We found out Ryan now weighs 19 lbs 5 oz. Over the week he began to feel better; however, over the weekend he started getting worse. I knew something was wrong because he wasn’t acting himself so I took him back to the doctor (at the risk of seeming like an over protective/hypochondriac mommy). And I am so glad I did! He has a double ear infection and an infection in his throat. They put him on some antibiotics (again) to help. He had two rough nights were he woke up multiple times during the night just wanting to be held. I can’t remember the last time he woke up once in the middle of the night let alone multiple times so I knew he was in pain, it was heart breaking. But, praise God, he is starting to feel better and had a peaceful nights sleep last night.

Busy, busy!

We have been very busy lately (I am beginning to think this is the norm though). We had an open house last weekend and are still trying to sell our house so we have been busy with that. Along with just normal everyday life (work, etc.). Ryan is doing great and getting so big. He is getting so close to crawling but hasn’t quite gotten the hang of it yet. He does this move where he reaches with one arm for a toy and lunges for it and then moves the other side. He will push up on all fours and rock back and forth on the bed still but hasn’t figured out how to move his arms and legs forward. We are really enjoying watching him grow and learn new things. We took a trip to the Cincinnati zoo a couple weekends ago. Ryan didn’t really care about the animals this time around but he really enjoyed the people watching. We really enjoyed getting to spend some time outside and are really looking forward to the warmer weather. Here are some pictures from the last couple of weeks.

7 months

Ryan turned 7 months old on March 2nd; yes I am a little late in posting this but we have been very busy (and I started writing this a week ago, lol). He is getting so close to crawling. He can push up on all fours when he is in bed but rarely does it on the floor (I guess it is too hard). I am hoping he puts it off a bit longer, I am not ready to have a mobile baby. He does scoot around all over the place though so he is still never in the same spot anyway. Its funny watching him roll and scoot to get to something he wants. And he is already fascinated by the electrical outlets. What is it with them that makes babies want to stick things in them?! Ryan is doing a great job with his food. He has now had a wide range of foods (veggies and fruits) and is eating off a spoon really well. His daycare friends love to feed him; they say he is the best at eating off a spoon in the nursery. He does think he is big enough to feed himself though and is constantly trying to grab the spoon from you (I guess he is going to be independent just like his Mommy). Its hard to say he has liked one thing more over another; he seems to just enjoy eating. Hopefully that will continue and we won't have any problems feeding him as he grows up. So far he still has just his two bottom teeth and I don't see any others coming in yet. He looks so adorable with those two bottom teeth but I haven't been able to get a good picture of him showing those teeth off. He is going through his separation anxiety phase right now and seems to not like to be separated from me much. But he is still having no problem at daycare (thank God!). We had to take Ryan to the doctor today because he has been sick. He had a fever at daycare Tuesday, we left early and brought him home, stayed home Wednesday and he started doing better. So we went to work and he went to daycare. They called me after lunch and said he was running a fever again and had been sleeping most of the day and was a bit fussy (not like him at all). We left early again and took him to the doctor. He has an ear infection. Now he is on some antibiotics so hopefully he will feel better soon. We have been really busy between work and trying to sell the house we haven't done much else. It is tax season so its a given work is busy but throwing trying to sell the house on top of that and I am exhausted. Hopefully things will slow down soon (tax season isn't that much longer but it will get worse before it gets better and hopefully we will sell the house soon; although then moving is a lot of work too, lol). Here are a few pictures I have taken over the last couple of weeks.

He got a hold of my water jug one day (he is always trying to and was very happy about finally getting it) and put the straw right in his mouth. He couldn't figure out how to get any water out of it but he enjoyed playing with it.

He sleeps on his tummy for the most part now. I worried a lot about it at first but not much I can do about it. I think it's funny he sleeps with his knees almost under him and his bottom stuck in the air.

Daycare sent me this picture one day on my phone. It was a very nice pick me up that put a smile on my face. He is too cute!
