Very active!

We found a place to move to and will be moving (hopefully) this weekend. Thankfully, it's a long weekend so that will give us some extra time to unpack and get settled in. It is a 3 bedroom townhouse with a garage on the east side of Frankfort. The living room and kitchen are on the first floor along with a full bath and laundry. The 3 bedrooms are on the second floor along with another full bath. Only the living room, stairs and one of the bedrooms (the one we are using for storage) are along the adjoining wall that is shared with the other connected townhouse. Since it is a two unit house we still have a yard! I am so happy that we can still take Ryan out in the yard to play. We are very excited about this new adventure and living so much closer to work. Our commute will be less than 10 minutes!

Ryan's ear infection did not go away. So we had to take him back to the doctor last weekend and they put him on antibiotic shots. He had to go in Saturday, Sunday and Monday for shots. The nurse who gave him his first shot was a lady we go to church with and she said that the shot was very painful but had a numbing agent in it; however, it took a couple of seconds to work. Ryan had us both in tears after because you could just see the pain in his eyes (and the look of "mommy, how could you let her do that to me?"), poor little guy. He calmed down quickly after I got to pick him up though and did really well for the second and third dose. I think it took a couple of days but I am very hopeful that the ear infection is now gone. But if it isn't or he gets another one within the next couple of months he will have to get tubes.

Ryan and I did go to my niece's sixteenth birthday party Thursday night. It is so hard to believe she is 16 now! I still remember her as a little girl with these beautiful blonde curls in her hair, love you Jess! The rest of the weekend was spent packing and playing with Ryan. He is getting in to more and more every day. And it's amazing to see how he learns. Jonathan commented how much like a sponge he is (I said, "um, yeah, that's how babies are" lol) because he learned how to open the cabinet doors while watching Jonathan open it once. He has gotten very good at getting into a sitting position from lying down and usually when I go into his room to get him out of the crib he is sitting up now. He is starting to push up on all fours a lot more as well. He still doesn't really crawl that way (usually does the army crawl) but is starting too. And he has also started to pull up on things. He first started doing this in the bath tub of all places (making it scary for mommy). I haven't gotten a picture of him standing up after pulling up because I am too busy catching him (and worried he is going to hit his head).

Below are some pictures I have taken of Ryan over the last two weeks.

He has learned how to put his toys up on the slide all by himself.

Working his lungs! He flaps his arms like a bird when he does this too, lol!

Helping Mommy with laundry, by riding in the laundry basket.

He is really enjoying this book right now.
He has enjoyed all the boxes in the house.

Sitting up in his crib.

After eating spaghetti one night. He made such a mess.

He is getting really good with using a sippy cup. Although some times he gets carried away with leaning backwards and will tip over.

We put his pool up and put him in it. He didn't know what to think of being outside and in the water.

But he quickly began to enjoy it. The pool came with this little floating whale sprinkler. He really enjoyed it.

He had fun covering it up.

Trying to get the water while Daddy was spraying him.
Trying to get Mommy wet.
Splashing with his tonuge hanging out.
Jumping in his jumperoo. He still really enjoys this (for about 10 to 15 minutes). He will jump for several minutes straight, he is a crazy baby!

9 months and more!

Ryan turned 9 months old on May 2nd and I took him for his check-up on May 6th. He weighed in at 19lbs 6oz (29th percentile) and was 28 ½ inches long (56th percentile). Unfortunately I took him in a day before our appointment was actually scheduled because he was showing signs of another ear infection and sure enough he had another double ear infection. We are giving him another round of a different antibiotic hoping this will get rid of it; however, a week later and I am still noticing some signs that point to the ear infection still being there. He only has 3 more doses of this antibiotic so we will see what happens. Praying these ear infections go away so he doesn’t have to get tubes put in. Also, due to the extra fluid in his ears throwing his equilibrium off he has been getting car sick and throwing up every morning on the way to daycare. One day he covered me in puke, not fun! Unfortunately, there isn’t anything we can do about it right now either since he is on antibiotics we can’t give him anything. He is being a real trooper through this whole thing. He doesn’t fuss in the car from not feeling well and after he gets sick he feels better and goes to sleep. Spoke with the doctor again about his conjunctivitis in his eyes and he said he wants to wait until Ryan is a year old to decide if we need to do anything about it (he said they would go in with a wire and unclog his tear ducts if need be, sounds scary to me so I am also praying that this clears up). Despite how the above sounds, he is doing great! He is a very happy baby who babbles all the time and is in to everything. He is never in the same spot you put him in five seconds later and has found a new curiosity about cat food, lol. We are constantly finding new things that he can get into and reach; which is driving Jonathan crazy. I had a wonderful first Mother’s day with my baby boy. Ryan said mama for the first time over the weekend, made for a great present! We had Ryan dedicated at church on Mother’s day as well. We are packing and getting ready to move hopefully at the end of this month. So far everything has gone smoothly. The appraisal was approved and the inspection was completed with only one request to fix an outside electrical outlet. Huge praise because we were worried something would come up we didn’t know was wrong (as I am sure all homeowners go through that worry). Now we are just trying to find a place to move to.

Ryan's 9 month professional pictures are also available to view. Go to http://carlislephotography.smugmug.com/Proofs click on Johnson R. 9 months, password is johnson.

We got Ryan a step start walk in ride. He really enjoys being pushed around on it but hasn't figured out how to use it to walk yet.

Here he is crawling everywhere; he doesn't think anything can stop him.

Eating his first bites of real food; banana.
He was having some trouble picking up the banana since its sticky so he decided to smash it.
Ryan and Mommy after church on Mother's day.

Ryan with his new bible and dedication certificate. I am very proud of getting such a great picture of him but it took several tries of him eating the bible or grabbing the certificate.

We finally put the baby bath away and gave Ryan a bath in the "big tub". He loved it! He "swims" all over it and splashes every where.
He even made a new friend in the big tub.
I hope you can see his friend in the mirror.
